Amelicious

From another point of view

Amelicious

We met for breakfast with Amelia Galofré, pharmacist and nutritionist, MasterChef contestant and creator of delicious recipes on her Instagram @ameliciousmchef9.

Her naturalness and approachability when she speaks hooks us from the first minute. It doesn't take her long to get down to work to prepare the recipe that, on this occasion, she wants to share with us. In the meantime, we talk about her time on the programme, about how she has been in the kitchen since she was a child to prepare snacks, about her new conscious eating projects and about the many ideas and projects that her enterprising mind is working on.

NT - How did your interest in cooking begin?

AD - Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved cooking. It is true that, during my life, I have not devoted as much time as I would have liked to cooking, until my confinement. With the global health problem, I saw the need to help people to take care of their diet and that's when I really got down to work, to cook and to teach my healthy recipes.

NT - What adjective would you use to define your cuisine?

AD - My cuisine is healthy, energetic and natural. I have a motto: we are what we eat, feel, say and do!

NT - What projects do you have in the pipeline?

AD - I have some very nice projects in the pipeline. The first one is my workshop-atelier "amelicious delicious", where I intend to give talks on nutrition, do show cooking, nutritional and pharmaceutical advice, sell personalised diets, and much more! It is a project that I am starting with great enthusiasm and I think it can be a very different and innovative concept. I hope that within a month I will have it all finished, and that you can come and enjoy it!

NT - If you could choose to collaborate with any chef (living or not), who would it be?

AD - If I could collaborate with a chef, it would undoubtedly be Jordi Cruz. His passion, desire, effort, dedication and creativity make him unique. My other favourite chef is Yotam Ottolenghi, an Israeli chef. I love his cooking, his books, his recipes and his use of vegetables.

NT - What ingredient could you not live without?

AD - I couldn't live without olive oil - it's the basic ingredient in the Mediterranean diet and in most of my recipes!

NT - Recommend your favorite restaurant in Barcelona.

AD - I don't have a favourite restaurant, but here are a few that I really enjoy:

Xavier Pellicer. Pellicer's commitment focuses on biodynamics, with organic, local and healthy products, in keeping with the gastronomic concept he offers diners: Healthy Kitchen, a balance between the pleasure of ingestion and the wellbeing of digestion. I think it deserves a Michelin star.

Enjoy. A Mediterranean establishment, with a friendly service and creative cuisine, designed to be enjoyed. The gastronomic proposal revolves around the tasting menu, with a clearly avant-garde style cuisine and where the dishes stand out for their great personality, daring, fun and modern cuisine in search of "taste" as the main premise. (Restaurant for very special occasions).
